The Rings

The Rings takes place before the coronation of Aragorn, and after the destruction of the Ring. Evil is still lurking through the forests of Middle Earth, and some seem to think that the Ring wasn't really destroyed. Frodo Baggins has returned home, as well as the other surviving members of the Fellowship. However, Middle Earth is still not free of evil. The Witch King and the Nazgûl that followed him still lurk about, and are believed to be planning to retake Middle Earth without Sauron.

The Fellowship members that have returned home wonder if they will have to fight another battle, and if they will have the men, elves, and others on their side to do so. Aragorn worries that since many of the elves have retreated to the Grey Havens, not many are left that will risk their lives fighting. Gimli worries that since Moria has diminshed, nobody will be able to fight for the dwarves. Legolas worries that the elves of Lothlòrien and the wood-elves of Mirkwood will not risk battle again.

Middle Earth lies on the boundary of goodwill, and fear. Not many can be trusted, as you never know who may betray you and turn to the other side at any moment. Those that are well may fight to the end, but the evil could prevail over Middle Earth for once and for all. And the question that disturbs all of Middle Earth, is the One Ring still here, or has it been destroyed?

Amidst all this trouble, life is continuing in Middle Earth. Slowly returning to normal, people wonder if the Ring was really destroyed. Families are reunited, and it is a joyous occasion. Aragorn will soon be coronated, and Middle Earth will return to life as usual. Or will it? The elves, those which have remained, sense a disruption in the calmness of life, and fear another battle. None others, though, know of their suspicions. What will happen to Middle Earth?
